The NIV (New International Version) is a popular English translation of the Bible, developed by a committee of scholars and translators under the guidance of the International Bible Society (IBS). The NIV was commissioned by the IBS at the 1966 International Congress on Mission and Divine Administration (ICMDA) and first published in 1978. The NIV has been widely distributed and used by Christian communities worldwide, influencing biblical interpretation and becoming a significant resource for personal study, worship, and teaching.
